Exhibited in Art Among the Stars 2025

Greater Bear, Redder Bear, Bluer Bear
2025
gouache and acrylic
24 x 24 x 4 inches
This work represents the red and blue shift phenomenon. The running bear allows for a fun visual of an object coming towards you causing a blue shift, and an object moving away causing a red shift. In the same direction as Ursa Major the galaxy GN-z11, one of the youngest and most distant galaxies, can be observed. GN-z11 has a redshift parameter of at least 10, making the constellation Ursa Major a good fit for this project.
