June 1- June 5, 2026 @ UW Planetarium
Open call: January 5th - February 27th
Selection notification: March 16th
Art delivery: week of May 25th
Performances/screening/symposium: evening of June 1st
UW Planetarium Arts is pleased to announce our second annual Astronomy x Art exhibition at the UW Planetarium in June 2026! This year, we're opening the call to artist talks for an opening night symposium, as well as 2D, 3D, digital, multimedia, performance-based, and time-based works.
This call is open to all art that engages with the knowledge, history, theories, methods, technologies, mythologies, and/or pedagogies of astronomy. Artist talks will be 15-20min long, and can be about your practice, your process, a specific artwork, or other astronomy x art topics across the spectrum of art-science/science-art. Performances and screenings are limited to 5 minutes each.
This call is open to all UW affiliates, including undergrads, grads, faculty, staff, and recent alumni. We welcome submissions of completed works, works-in-progress, and proposals of new work, as long as the piece will be ready to exhibit by May 22nd.
2D and 3D work will be exhibited in the 2nd-floor hallway of the PAA building on UW's Seattle campus. On opening night, June 1, performances and screenings will take place in the UW Planetarium at the same time as a symposium of artist talks in a neighboring classroom. These parallel sessions will run twice on opening night.
We look forward to viewing your submissions! Please direct any questions to uw.planetarium.arts@gmail.com, or our Instagram page @uw_planetarium_arts.
